General Questions

Fort Garry Campus: We are located in the Welcome Centre building at 423 University Crescent. We are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and can be reached by phone at 474-9312 (non emergency) or 474-9341 in an emergency situation. Bannatyne Campus: We are located at S105 Medical Services Building. We are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and can be reached by phone at 789-3330 (non emergency) or 474-9341 in an emergency.

To request a Safewalk anywhere on the Fort Garry or Bannatyne Campus, call 474-9312. Safewalks are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

While the first instinct would be to call 911, Security Services should be the first point of contact for all emergencies on campus. Emergency Responders may not be familiar with the campus and assistance is much easier to facilitate when Security Services is contacted first. Our staff will attend the scene and provide emergency escorts for all external agencies.

If you suspect that your personal belongings have been stolen while attending campus, contact Security Services at 474-9312 or attend the Welcome Centre to file a report. Security Services also has a Lost and Found where items can be turned over to our office.

There is no single fixed retirement age for employees in Ireland. If you are employed, your retirement age is set out in your contract of employment. Some contracts of employment have a mandatory retirement age (that is, the age at which you must retire), but they can also have provisions for earlier retirement generally and/or on grounds of illness. The usual retirement age in contracts of employment is 65 years of age within the contracts of employment with Securitas Security Services Ireland.

General Questions

Yes, the security industry in Ireland is a regulated licensed industry and all static security guards and personnel carrying out security functions as stipulated by PSA 28: 2013 Guarding Security Services standard have to be qualified and licensed a minimum to the Basic Guarding Skills FETAC Level 4 Minor Award (L12407 or C10266) or Security Industry Awareness FETAC Level 4 Minor award (C10164) or equivalent and licensed by the Private Security Authority.

Training requirements and competencies are measured on an on-going basis by the Training Development & Standards Manager, the Operations Manager, The Site Manager and the Branch Manager for the officers on the various sites.

Two forms of government issued identification (Passport, Driving Licence, PSA Licence, Safe PASS etc) your current and up to date CV, any educational records and certificates as well as any training certificates that you may have and a letter of proof of your address, e.g. a utility bill (ESB, Phone, GAS, etc).

Basic contractual hourly rates and conditions are negotiable; these can also be governed also as per a Security Industry Employment Regulation Order (ERO) or a Registered Employment Agreement (REA) that may be in force at any given time.

Yes, basic training both in the classroom and on site is paid at our training rate of pay rate applicable to you.

Working hours are contract dependent, these are subjected to the upper limits of the Organisation of Working Time Act 1997, Shift durations depend on the contractual requirements of the site and as such can vary from one site to the next as the nature of security work means that the hours and shift slots will be variable and there is a need for full staff flexibility, in order to be able to work days, nights and weekends shifts

This is location and customer contractually dependent weather we have one or more security guards on a customer’s site, the service requirements of the customer can require for only one security officer or more as part of a team, larger sites may have more specific operational positions for each team member.

Home security cameras are a great addition to any home security system, providing you 24/7 access to your home, regardless of your location. Home security novices often make the mistake of installing just one camera. However, most cameras can rotate only so much and zoom only so far.
